Tasked with redesigning the waiting room experience, we began with background research, including scholarly articles and a short survey distributed through personal networks. Survey responses highlighted that perceived "wasted time" was a major source of frustration in medical waiting rooms. Secondary research supported this insight, showing that while wait times can't always be reduced, improving the environment can significantly boost patient satisfaction. Based on these findings, we focused our design on a general paediatric clinic, aiming to support both children and their parents or guardians. Our solutions included an app for appointment booking, check-in, and access to educational entertainment, as well as two kiosks: one for entryway check-ins and emergency alerts, and another in patient rooms to engage children with interactive, educational content. These interventions were designed to reduce stress, improve efficiency, and create a more positive waiting experience for families.
Completed as a group project; specific individual contributions include the design of entry-way and interactive kiosks, as well as input on overall user experience and design aesthetic.
